There have been great amount to research in this area and
work of Ian Stevenson stands tall. Ian had done thorough research in more than
3000 cases for reincarnation spanning over 40 years and covering almost every
religion in the world. Such amount of research should actually satisfy the mind
which are genuinely open and thus are scientific in truest sense.
One of the cases that acquired much attention was the case
of Shanti devi, who remembered her previous life. Mahatma Gandhi took interest
in this case and met this woman, Gandhi then ordered to set up a commission to
enquire about her claims. This committee under Deshbhandhu Gupta verified all
her claims to be true and a report was published in 1936.
Reincarnation as sensationalised by movies and media, is not a miracle or
supernatural phenomena which happens in few rare cases, rather it is a
continuous journey of a Soul and that’s how our evolution takes place .Brian L
Weiss ,a psychiatrist has done in-depth regression therapy with more than 4000
people, which shows how we are born again and again in an environment where we
have created Karmic debts, or have deep level of attachments. His work “Many
Lives Many Masters” is worth a read and will quench the thirst of greatest of
rational minds.
In each of our avatar, we perform many actions and have
intent in our minds about the kind of life we desire, the blend of actions,
thoughts and intent along with the result expected makes the Karma of an
individual and Soul in its journey of evolution gets the next birth in the
moment when planetary configuration reaches the exact point where those Karmas
can be unlocked and potential for further growth be materialized.
To perceive Vedic or Hindu astrology as the science which is
only involved in predicting events would mean understanding it in its most
lowest and primitive form .In its most splendid and guiding nature, Jyotish is
a deep and ancient wisdom to know the journey of a Soul, what
Samskaar(Qualities) it carries, from where it has came, what are the Karmic
debts it has,and its potential for mundane and Spiritual growth in present and
subsequent births.
That is why in east, Jyotish is said to be the "Eye of
wisdom".
